Our Mission Statement
We are a social action organization committed to bettering the world by finding the people around us that can inspire, empower, and educate us, and then sharing their stories and the messages they represent through the medium of journalism. Through both audio profiles and written features, our goal is to create pieces that let the voices of those we profile resonate and come directly to you. In this way, the people that we profile, many of whom have become role models to us, can also become role models and sources of motivation to you.
The profiles we have worked on have put us in contact with the same people that have sat across from Kobe Bryant and Stephen Colbert, that have talked with Barack Obama and Justin Bieber, and that have learned from Tyra Banks and Al Gore. They are the voices of Olympic gold medalists and presidential candidates, Pulitzer Prize winners and contestants on reality TV. They are voices that have reverberated on Fox News and NBC, CNN and NPR. They are also voices that have resonated at dinner tables and in classrooms- the voices of ordinary people with extraordinary messages. They are voices that are inspiring, uplifting and enlightening. They are voices that we have had the privilege to learn from, and now we seek to share with you what they have taught us.
In our work, as long as humanly possible, our commitment is to engage directly with those that we profile. Our audio profiles and written pieces are the product of personal 1 on 1 interviews. By doing this, we ensure that the voices we are representing in our pieces are the authentic and genuine voices of those we profile.
We see this project as a perpetually growing one. What began as two of us telling the stories that we are inspired by, we hope will one day evolve into a network of student journalists at colleges across the globe all committed to this same ideal of inspiring change and social action, through the stories of those around them.
These stories that we are telling speak to individual experience, but have collective relevance. They shine a light on individual decisions, actions, and achievements, as symbols of what we are all capable of doing. We hope that these profiles will not only have an entertainment value, but will serve as stepping stones to engaging with world issues, challenging world views, and educating and connecting people to things that matter.
We are remarkably grateful to all those who have shared their stories with us thus far. In our experience working on these profiles, we have truly been educated, inspired, empowered, and uplifted. We hope these stories have the same effect on you.
Sincerely,
Ari and Josh Satok
